Did I mention that? How much I dearly love fall? Bet you never could’ve guessed in a million years. 😉
So some calendars say that yesterday was the first day of fall, and some say that today was. So it’s sort of like there are two first days of fall instead of just one.
This, like my lemon drop slushie from sonic (tried it for the first time today… I’m sorry, dear cherry limeade, but I do believe I’ve found another to cherish) makes me immensely happy.
I really ought to get around to making a set for my beach pictures… yet I procrastinate.
Tonight my dear friend and lovely coworker (I always think cow orker when I write that… I’ve probably said that before. Gets me every time) is getting married to another of my dear friends/ amazing coworkers. It’ll be crazy seeing her get married!! But I’m quite happy for her. 🙂 She’s a lovely lady and He’s a great guy, and they’ll be happy together.
WOOT WOOT, C. and JM.!!!! 😀
Seeing as I haven’t written in awhile and some of you seem to be getting a bit anxious (hehe 😉 ) I decided to write a new post.
The weeks I spent up north were lovely… I had missed hanging out with my family, so that was great to see them again. And the last four days I was at the beach, hence all the beach pictures up on my flickr photostream. Check them out!
Tomorrow I start school again. Yay! I actually am looking forward to it, I feel refreshed after my summer break and I’m ready to get back to learning. Plus, the books we have this year are all pretty good.
Tonight I went to see Shrek 4 with the Jr. Highers of my youth group. It was fun, but for the first time I did feel a little old. I kept switching into Jr. Counselor mode, like sitting with the youth leaders and chatting awhile felt odd because I kept thinking, “staff clump!! aack! interact with the kids!” But they were all very funny and adorable, so I was glad I went just to meet them and get to know them a little.
I’ve been keeping busy lately… This weekend I have a friend’s wedding to go to (Eek! My friends are getting married!!) and then right afterwards I’m going to work a retreat at camp until Sunday. So it should be fun 🙂 I’m looking forward to it and the beginning of school.
I hope all of y’all readers are doing well! Have a happy Monday tomorrow. Do something that puts a smile on your face. 🙂
I realize the sign in the picture is controversal, but for this purpose, it simply means peace. (yep. I’m shallow. I go for the trendy shots. 😉 )
I apologize for the gaps between posts… I’ll be back home August 8, so you can expect more regular posting then.
camp is going great! I love the campers so much. I think this past week was the best yet, I feel like I was able to bond a lot with the girls and really get to know them well. God is teaching me so much through these kids, it’s crazy. I think I’m learning and being loved more than I’m teaching and loving.
This may sound creepy, but sometimes I’ll wake up in the night just to listen to all those little miracles breathing and snoring and stirring in their sleep. It’s such a beautiful noise. And I love that I get to spend all my time with them during the week. The hardest part is Saturday morning, when they leave and then prep begins for Sunday’s new batch of kids. I always wonder what they’re going home to, what their ‘normal’ life is like. Especially the Angel Tree kids, who have at least one parent in jail and usually the other is an alcoholic or druggie or abusive or something to that effect. They’re the ones with the most love to give, I find. Which is ironic, because you know at home they’re probably not getting a whole bunch. But maybe they are, every situation is different.
Anyway. I should go. Much love to all. ❤
I realized again today (after having quite a laugh at my own stupidity… multiple times) that being silly is so very important in our lives.
So guess what. I’m daring you to say everything in an accent for at least 20 minutes after you read this. Any accent you choose. French, Spanish, Italian, Southern, Californian, Valley Girl, Hippie… Or make up your own. The object is to have fun and be silly. So, have fun and be silly! 🙂
I love polaroids. They have a way of capturing the little things in life, and you can take pictures of things that would otherwise seem pointless, but through a polaroid, it becomes magical. It’s like that with any camera of course, but especially polaroid.
So, with that in mind, I grabbed a piece of carstock and started cutting. Once I had the frame cut out, I went around and took pictures through it. It’s crazy fun, if a little kiddish. 🙂 Then just applied a little editing to make inside the frame look a little different from the outside. Viola! The one above is of my newly-bloomed chives. See the rest here.
Also, Soul Sister – Train… I don’t remember if I already said this, but it’s right up there with I’m Yours – Jason Mraz for me; Instant favorite, forever.
